UK techie recounts her first day at work

Software engineer Mbah Divinefavour (O.D, MNOA), who moved to the UK via sponsored work visa, recalled how her first day felt like.

She told Legit.ng that her first day and first week working in the UK was very chill. In her words:

"I understand that the route which I moved by God's grace is a bit privileged and I'm grateful for that and for how I got here. My first day of work, the first week of work, even was very very chill.
"I have been in two roles since I moved, and I have first been an intern and then I have been a full-time analyst at my jobs, and the first week of resuming was more or less very chill to be honest.
"The thing with working with big corporations is that there's like a structure to how they do things, and the first week is usually about on-boarding, getting required access for you to be able to do your job, there would be induction ceremonies, there would be welcome ceremonies/ networking events.
"In summary, the first week is usually more about free food, knowing about the firm they're working at and getting all your accesses and just grasping what your team or what your job is going to be about.
"It's then from the second week that you now work and in both jobs I have done a regular nine to five..."

Divinefavour also spoke about the hard part of resuming at a new corporation or role.

  • "So, the only thing that I would say was the hard part was just, you know as with any new job or new role, understanding what the team is about and understanding what you're going to be doing.
"But in terms of like hours, they were regular work hours and just getting used to the normal stress associated with normal work."
