Meanwhile, Adediran, who was a member of the ruling party in the state, had earlier met President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja, to inform him of his decision to return to his initial political family.

Jandor's aide, Gbenga Ogunleye, said the former gubernatorial candidate was still consulting with critical stakeholders to aid his decision on his next political move, TVC reported.

    He said:

“I can confirm that Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) met with President Bola Tinubu on Monday. He has also previously met with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former President Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, among other national leaders."

Jandor's decision to join the APC reportedly stemmed from the internal crisis rocking the main opposition party in Lagos state and his not-so-good outing in the 2023 governorship election.

    Benue gov dispels defection rumours

In a similar development, Legit.ng reported that Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state stated that he would not leave the APC for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In a statement by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday, March 12, the Benue governor stated that he had never contemplated leaving the party that brought him to office.

Alia stated that those spreading such "falsehoods" on social media were merely attempting to sow discord between him and President Bola Tinubu.
