An old woman melted many hearts online due to how she reacted when someone close to her was leaving.

The video was posted on TikTok by a lady who is just completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to the lady, identified on her profile as Tonia, she stayed with an old woman during her service year.

The woman had grown attached to her and she was not happy that the NYSC member was leaving her alone.

The woman was seen weeping and saying that if the corps member failed to visit her, she would not be a happy woman.

Tonia said the old woman did not want her to go back to her own state anymore and was upset at being alone again.

The video was posted on TikTok with this caption:

Lovely relationship between NYSC lady and old woman

A recent TikTok video shared by the former corps member stated that she served in Edo state. The clip was a longer version of the one she had earlier posted.

When the grandma complained that she might die before the lady would visit again, the lady disagreed.

The lady said that the old woman was so kind to her during her stay in the state. She prayed for favour for the grandma's children.

Geriatric care expert shares tips to ease elderly loneliness

Umashime Oguzor-Doghro, Co-Founder & CEO of U&U Geriatric Care Limited, has noted practical ways to help elderly individuals cope with loneliness after losing a close companion, such as regular audio and video calls, and visits.

She also urged social engagement and structured support, stating,

“Support them in joining local senior centers, clubs, or organisations to meet new people and build connections. Consider enrolling them in companionship programs, where trained volunteers or caregivers provide regular companionship and social interaction.”

The expert further emphasised the importance of emotional support for recreational activities.

NSYC lady shares her experience in Sokoto

In a related story, Legit.ng reported that a Nigerian lady said she was posted to Sokoto state to do her one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

She said when she saw her call-up letter and discovered where she was posted to, she was not happy and her friends kept making fun of her situation.

However, the NYSC member decided that she would be going and said that was the best decision of her life because she enjoyed her stay in Sokoto state.

She said: "God came through for me in so many ways! Working with Major Gens, Brig Gens, Colonels, Lt Colonel and other big big men in the Nigerian army was what I never imagined could happen in Sokoto! These people give corp members lots of RAW privileges! I had the opportunity to meet and serve the whole Chief of Defence staff! Oh my, Sokoto has been a blessing! Huge one!
